link GOLDEN WILDEBEEST Species / Connochaetes taurinus. Conservation status / Vulnerable. Each year an ancient spectacle, the single largest movement of wildlife, begins. Wildebeests migrate in search of fresh pastures and water. Such migrations may contain as many as one million individuals. Still, only a minimal fraction of that number belongs to the golden wildebeest subspecies.	link RHINO Species / Diceros bicornis - black. Species / Ceratotherium simum - white. Conservation status / Critically endangered. A rhino's horn is not attached to the skull. It grows from the skin and is made up of keratin fibers, the same material found in hair and nails. They have a wide squared off lip that allows it to eat a wide swath of the green, short grasses that grow in the open savannahs.	link BLACK IMPALA Species / Aepyceros melampus. Conservation status / Vulnerable. Although its physical dimensions are indicative of a large gazelle, certain details of its anatomy and behavior causes the impala to be classified in a group of its own. Specifically, its gregarious nature and tendency to inhabit relatively dense brush separate it from the gazelle tribe.	link SADDLED IMPALA Species / Aepyceros melampus petersi. Conservation status / Vulnerable. Although its physical dimensions are indicative of a large gazelle, certain details of its anatomy and behavior causes the impala to be classified in a group of its own. Specifically, its gregarious nature and tendency to inhabit relatively dense brush separate it from the gazelle tribe.	link ROAN ANTELOPE Species / Hippotragus equinus. Conservation status / Scarce species. Roans congregate in herds of up to 20 individuals with a very characteristic social structure. Within the group, the more dominant female is the leader. There is only one adult male (called a bull) in each herd. The juvenile males are exiled from the herd at about 3 years old, although female calves remain.	link EAST AFRICAN BUFFALO Species / Syncerus caffer caffer. Conservation status / Scarce species. Cape buffalos are extremely social and live in large, mixed herds of up to 2,000 members. Both sexes have a separate hierarchy, with males dominant over females. Members of the same subgroup will stay in direct contact with each other and will often sleep with their heads resting on one another.	link WEST ZAMBIAN SABLE Species / Hippotragus niger. Conservation status / Scarce species. Sable congregate in herds of 15-20 individuals with matriarchal social structure. Within the group, the more dominant female is the leader. There is only one adult male -breeding bull- in each herd. The juvenile males are exiled from the herd at about 3 years old. All the female calves remain.
